Review on Mumbai Police :
Watched Mumbai Police last night. In one word; Outstanding. Rosshan Andrrews has done immense justice to a bold and brilliant script from Bobby & Sanjay. The screenplay is extremely taut and from the first shot till the last frame, the film never strays from the plot. The making is much ahead of its times and truly has the standard of great international films. One of the main highlights is the chemistry between Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Rahman. Each one of them has given an incredible performance and brought to life three completely different characters. Gopi Sunder's background score retains the soul of the film. Divakar's cinematography is excellent. As usual, Editor Mahesh Narayanan does a fantastic job. Prithviraj has proven that in addition to being a star, he is a brilliant actor. Congrats to the team for backing this film. Congrats to Roshan, Bobby and Sanjay for raising the bar on malayalam films with their absolute conviction in their story. Easily, one of the best films this year.
Mumbai Police will be remembered for a long time as a film which showed courage to deal with such a powerful subject so maturely and effectively without resorting to any commercial gimmicks. Roshan Andrews rises to be one extraordinary filmmaker. Sanjay and Bobby come out with a screenplay on par with their best work Traffic and sometimes even more mature than it. Prithviraj deserves a standing ovation for taking up such a character and delivering it with aplomb. Stunning performance by the actor who's back in form with great performances successively. jayasurya in his short screen time leaves a lasting impression and he's charming and gives an unforgettable performance.
Rahman, Appu Nair, and the rest of the cast are super effective. Kunjan chettan shines in a scene which gives you goosebumps. Perfectly edited by Mahesh Narayanan and with an awe inspiring score by Gopi sunder, Mumbai Police is a classic! Watch without your pre conceived prejudices and without hearing opinions from others and experience it yourself. The mindset of the audience is responsible if this film fails.
Given the brilliance of 'Mumbai Police', this was already guaranteed.. if I had the money I would have brought the remake rights of this brilliant film right away 'coz this film will be successful in any language..! As a progressive movie fan, I only hope that those who direct this film in other languages do justice to this fantastic script & don't manipulate it any way. The script & screenplay does not need any improvisation.
